About 15 years ago I joined a painting class taught by Margot Trout – a sudden epiphany. I have also studied with Arthur Yanoff, Pat Hogan, June Parker and Steve Dietemann. During the last 7 years I have mostly worked with Kate Knapp at the Front Street Gallery in Housatonic, MA. She has been a contact source of positive and critical support in my search for my artistic voice.
I worked in watercolor for several years, winning 2 prizes in the Sheffield Art League summer shows. In the last 6 years I have had work in pastels shown in 3 solo shows at Mill River Studio, Railroad Street and 1 at Barnbrook Realty, Main Street, Great Barrington, MA. More recently, my work has been shown at the Front Street Gallery on Railroad Street in Housatonic.
I have concentrated on pastels during the past 7 years. I paint when possible out of doors, returning to my studio for finishing details. I feel a strong connection to the Berkshire landscape and try to articulate my response through my art. I love color. French and English pastels on gritty pastel paper seem to give me the most satisfying texture and depth, but I also enjoy working in oil and watercolor. |
